"Back in 2013 I was still having little intermittent bleeding that I put down to the menopause but at Christmas 2013, I had a significant bleed and my daughter advised me to go to the doctors as I also missed my smear by about 8 months.
Jan 2014 my doctor took a smear and advised me to be seen ASAP at the hospital as she could see something going on.
I was given an hysteroscopy in the examination room 2 week later at the hospital. The results were inconclusive but did show signs of abnormal cells.
I was then booked in for another one under general anaesthetic with biopsies and 3 weeks later I was told it was cancer.
I had my full hysterectomy on 5th March 2014 and my results came back stage 1 grade a and I did not have to have any further treatment only check ups for 3 to 5 yrs.
I went back to work May 2014 .
I decided then to try and help myself and lose some weight. I decided to train and take part in the Race for life to give something back.
I have since done 2 races after my cancer and have thankfully lost 4 stone since Feb 2015.
If I have learnt anything from my cancer journey is take it slow and accept things as they come and deal with them.
Don't stress or worry.
Smile and stay strong."
